Nautilus is the Gnome filebrowser of choice.
It is currently lacking media-specific stuff, and nautilus-media hopes to provide the right add-ons.
nautilus-media contains (or will contain) an audio view, a video view, a thumbnailer, and property pages for nautilus.
CVS is hosted on cvs.gnome.org under the module name nautilus-media.
nautilus-media is built with GStreamer technology.
