Linux Magazine March 2010 is full of GStreamer goodness: one article reviewing 4 media players, all of them using GStreamer (Banshee, Rhythmbox, Amarok 2, Songbird), and a three page article on your favourite video editor, PiTiVi!
Congratulations to the GStreamer devs! Seriously, GStreamer kicks ass and you guys deserve some serious gratitude.

Amarok uses Xine per default but can also use e.g. gstreamer. But that’s not a requirement. Flexibility rocks :)

I tried to cut a video with PITIV end last year, hm did not work at all for me. You should try openshot. I beats PITV hands down.

Well, it didn’t work at all for me either, but now it’s included in 10.04, so I expect it to get quite a bit of bugfixing love.. I look forward to trying it again after release.

Yeah, the openshot developer started with gnonlin / gstreamer but hit numerous roadblocks. He really started making progress after switching to MLT.
